Lesson Plans

The Student Vote activity resource is intended to improve civic literacy, introduce the concepts of government and democracy, increase awareness about municipal government and school boards, and teach students how to effectively participate in the election process. Each lesson has several activities and options available, for the ease of adapting it to your particular classroom. Please use, modify, rearrange and choose from the suggestions as you see fit. The lessons build upon each other, but they can also be used as stand-alone lessons depending on the needs of your classroom and schedule.

On this page you will the find five lesson plans along with corresponding activity sheets and handouts. Many of the lessons suggest PowerPoint presentations or videos to assist with the instruction portion of the lesson; these can be found on the PowerPoint Presentations and Videos pages. Various assessment tools are also posted, along with a glossary of terms.
