Welcome to the Student Vote BC 2009 Campaign Site
April 13th, 2009 by Student Vote
Hello Team Leaders!
Thank you very much for joining us for the Student Vote BC 2009 parallel election program.
We built this website as an online home for you during this election campaign. It is a place where you can find all of the tools you need to introduce your students to democracy, engage them in the election and connect with Student Vote and participating teachers across the province.
Please make use of the Student sister site we have created. Make sure your students know the website address and have them explore the content in class and at home. We are trying something new this campaign and hope to learn as much as we can, so share with us any feedback on what is engaging and what isn’t.
Some things you may consider trying this election:
- join the Team Leader Facebook page and start sharing your experience, techniques and challenges in this election with other teachers
- follow our Twitter to receive timely updates on the campaign and the project
- share photos or videos from campaign events at your school (all candidates’ debates, class presentations, student voter education drives, Student Vote Day, etc) with us using Flickr, Vimeo or YouTube
- challenge your students to come up with a set of questions to ask the candidates in your riding. Have the students videotape interviews using the prepared questions to all of the candidates and share them with us. We will post them to the website and alert the other schools in your electoral district!
- let us know when an event is going on at your school or just invite us to talk with your students and our Senior Correspondent Steve Goetz will try to make a visit.
We will also be providing a daily news roundup to help you track the election as it is developing and Steve will be traveling the province to cover the campaign for your students and visiting as many schools as he can.
Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
