The British Columbia Libertarian Party first ran candidates during the 1986 provincial election. It has never won a seat in the BC Legislature.
The party had its best ever result during the 1996 election. The party’s 17 nominated candidates won 2,041 votes (0.13 percent of the popular vote).
The party nominated six candidates in 2005 and received 1,003 votes (0.06 percent of the popular vote). The party improved in 2009: six candidates received 1,468 votes (0.09 percent of the popular vote).
During the 2013 provincial election, the party ran eight candidates and received 0.11 percent of the popular vote.
The party had its best ever result during the 2017 provincial election; the party nominated 30 candidates and received 7,211 votes (0.40% of the popular vote).
