Student Vote Canada

More than 800,000 elementary and high school students across the country participated in Student Vote Canada, coinciding with the 2021 federal election.

After learning about democracy and elections, researching the parties and platforms, and debating the future of the country, students cast their ballots for the official candidates running in their school’s electoral district.

More than 800,000 students from more than 5,900 schools participated in Student Vote Canada 2021. Votes were cast in all 338 ridings.

Student Vote Canada is presented in collaboration with Elections Canada.



2021 Nunavut Territorial Election

More than 500 elementary and secondary students participated in the Student Vote project for the 2021 Nunavut territorial election.

After learning about territorial government and the electoral process, exploring the issues and candidates, and discussing the election with family and friends, students cast ballots for the official candidates running in their constituency.

By 9:00 p.m. ET on October 25, 9 schools had reported their election results, representing 9 constituencies throughout the territory. In total, 508 ballots were cast by student participants.
